As part of our partnership with Welsh language theatre company Frân Wen, we
are thrilled to announce that the company’s Artistic Director, Gethin Evans, will
be working with us as GALWAD’s Live Performance Artistic Director.
Originally from Denbigh, Gethin joined Frân Wen in 2019. He was previously joint
Artistic Director at Cwmni Pluen and has directed highly-acclaimed theatre
productions including Woof, MAGS and most recently Ynys Alys.
Gethin Evans, Live Performance Artistic Director, GALWAD, and Artistic
Director, Frân Wen, said:
“I'm thrilled to be joining GALWAD’s Creative Company as part of my role as Artistic Director of Frân Wen. Building on Wales’ long-standing reputation of ambitious, site-specific, co-created work. I look forward to building on the work we’ve already done with communities across Wales as we continue to co-create a truly unique creative project.
“GALWAD will celebrate contemporary Wales and our exceptional talent in theatre-making. We are particularly excited about the opportunity to develop and platform young voices through the live performance, in collaboration with the GALWAD young company, Frân Wen young company and community partners including CellB.”
Alongside Gethin’s appointment, we’ve also announced an opportunity for a
North Wales based Assistant Director to work alongside Gethin on the week-long
live performance elements of GALWAD, with a focus on a major final event in
